Changing the Face of Dying

Legal Information

Coping with a terminally ill disease is a hard thing to do but unfortunately there are other things that one needs to think about if considering hospice care. Hospice care is available in all states in America and individuals may be eligible to hospice care under the Medicare program, at the national level and the Medicaid system at the state level. Nevertheless, one must check with their insurance companies whether their insurance cover this type of care.

A terminally ill patient usually qualifies as eligible to receive hospice care. This however means that is the patient’s situation improves, he might be removed from hospice care because it no longer fits the definition of ‘terminally ill’ as described by Medicaid or Medicare. Nevertheless, most hospice care providers continue to provide their services to patients whose insurance do not cover hospice care. They do so using money from fund raising or foundation gifts.
